In general what you are saying is true but it isn’t particularly true of Govanhill specifically. There are loads of fancy cafes and hairdressers and not so many bookies and chippys. Sure ther are some but not a ton. Govanhill is a really diverse immigrant community and at the risk of generalising they are less into the chippy and bookie scene. For everyone bookie there is going to be like 3 organic coffee shops and 5 Pakistani street food vendors. |
