I lived in Govanhill five years ago when it was proper "weans out playing in the street until midnight" rough and encountered no problems really. I loved it then and went back for the first time a few months ago and I was amazed at the transformation. Lots of wee cafes, restaurants and a couple of decent pubs. You could do worse than Govanhill
