Yeah, Halfords are bad for this, buy a £2000 bike and they'll sell you a £10 crappy wire lock because they have targets to meet.

Rule of thumb, spend 10% of the total bike price on a lock, it might sound crazy but thief's will also take the easiest option, you just need to make your bike harder to steal than others around it.

Any lock that has a wire/cable is useless.
