Having access to water and toilets would make a big difference. I took my son when he was 4 to my Dad’s in Perthshire, it is remote, no neighbours and has a garden that was dark enough we felt like we were camping proper.

There’s so much more you need to take for the wee
one “just in case” if you’re in the middle of nowhere. A wee quiet corner of a camp site with toilets, that allows a wee cooker at your tent will feel, to him, like a full on expedition.
