I was able to score a great flat in a desirable location back in December 2020. I was a full-time graduate student at the time with no job and I'm from abroad. I offered 6 months upfront, wrote a letter detailing that I was a mature student who was previously a primary school teacher, and was approved the day I viewed the flat.

I rent through phoenix properties. it was no bother at all.

I can't really tell you what to do now. apparently things have gotten out of control. perhaps offer to pay deposit and several months rent up front? shouldn't have to, but with people moving up from down south and whatnot, things are getting to be a bit shit.

I'm sorry you're having issues, just know it's not impossible!
