My mum has a running joke with one of her neighbours about this. The neighbour has a cat which is a big timid tom cat. My mums kitten follows it around the garden like a shadow since it was really young, generally tormenting the poor lad.
The neighbour has woken up to two cats in her bed before without even realising my mums had snuck in.
