I agree with the other replies saying it's too far south of the subway tunnels to be a vent shaft. Nothing on old maps either except one which had MH (Man Hole) at that location. It may just be a fancy bin store. Is there a door into it? If not, can you put a pair of stepladders up against the side and take a photo of the inside?
