So many funny stories from when I worked there! They used to have a pool table with a wee short pool cue (you couldn’t use a standard length one to play certain shots because of an awkwardly placed pillar) and one night after closing, a member of staff found a shit-covered pair of boxers (they were absolutely destroyed) in the mens toilets - and yes we knew who they belonged to. The wee short pool cue was used to pick them up and lob them into the wheelie bin. And then the cue was put back on the rack as if nothing had happened. No Dettol, not even a cursory dip under the cold tap. It was forever known as the ‘poo cue’. These were the lawless, bacteria-splattered, halcyon days of 2001, not the sanitised, health & safety gone sensible, post-covid days of 2022.
