I have been in your shoes! It's a big, important purchase, in a very scary market. It would be weird NOT to be nervous. Here's how I got over the financial worry: I calculated how much rent my partner and I had already spent over the years, which in my case was 40k over 7 years. Bear in mind that 40k was for the CHEAPEST flats I could afford (outside of Glasgow) where I lived in cramped, damp, and at times dangerous places.
Even if I sell at a loss, I'll still likely be better off financially than if I had rented-- and I'll have the mental well-being of living in a nice place.
