| Comment | I used to do the charity fundraising on the street and door to door, but I was shite at it - Most I met weren't good people, they were narcissists who thought pressuring the elderly into skinning themselves to keep paying the wages of 500k a year CEOs was the most ethical thing you can do with your life. There were obviously a few exceptions, but majority were very attention seeking personalities, and the tactics they use deliberately prey on the vulnerable and easy to manipulate. You get taught 'objection handling' which is how to tell a wee woman on a state pension that 11 charities aren't enough and that your charity is one she needs to add (especially if you're older because they usually give money when they die to charity).
So aye, I'll give them my time and nothing more, and if they start to get pushy I just go into a very in depth explanation of why in my personal opinion charities are a scam and actively harm the people they supposedly help in order to keep themselves in business. I usually go for a specific incident like the absolute disgrace that was American and British Red Cross 'conduct' in the rebuilding of Haiti in which total disregard of basic fucking sanitation led to the first outbreak of cholera in 100 years because cunts don't know how to keep shitting water and drinking water separate despite being the 'experts' |
