| Comment | I second this but unfortunately the castle is closed just now due to falling rocks, I’ve been told it should reopen mid to late summer.
On a second note if you were to come to Dumbarton and wanted to know about Dumbarton’s history I am more than happy to give you a tour.
Dumbarton’s history includes; Dumbarton Castle, Dumbarton Rock, Shipbuilding, Mary Queen of Scots, Robert the Bruce (his viscera is buried not far from Dumbarton Castle), William Wallace, Robert Burns, Templar knights, War bunkers, Gun placements, Neolithic burials, Robert the Bruce died in Dumbarton(about 5 minutes drive from Dumbarton Castle) and one of my favourites has to be the smugglers tunnels. |
