Comment | It is not illegal . There is no requirement in the highway code to use cycle lanes .
Cycle lanes are designed for speeds of 15 - 18 mph , a wee bit slower than my normal speed . The path at the side has tree roots that make it lumpy so 20 mph + is a no no upon it .
One of the greatest things about cycling is the freedom it gives you . Where is that freedom if you can only proscribed routes ? Why should I take a indirect route and more time going about my business ? Why would I insist in using a busy road which is direct from A- B and not be happy about using a route that goes A - c- d -e -B ? That route was the way I traveled to my Dads house , sometimes it was imperative I get there ASAP due to his health . Why shouldn't I use the most direct route ? |
