Tbf I think people also disdain folk who rob/deceive/threaten people for booze and gambling money. If an alcoholic is bleeding and soiling themselves in someone's close they'll have just as much issue with that.
Obviously not all heroin users do that, but that's who most of this visceral hate you see on this thread is directed at.
