Everyone, from the friends who suggested applying in the first place, to the frontline staff who asked me what I wanted and gave me the application form, to the frakkin security-guard who was stationed in the office - they all told me that no matter how Real and 'worthy' my claim was - I wouldn't get it. That if I really needed their help, I'd be better just lying, and giving one of the pre-approved stories that everyone uses.
