The area I grew up in wasn't rough as fuck, but my school had a pretty massive catchment area, with kids from summerston, Ruchill, the barracks, temple as well as posher bits like Kelvindale.
I was in plenty of parties in those places or in parks with a bottle of cider.
For most of my late teens and twenties I'd be out in town in pubs and clubs and worked in a bunch as well.
I'm no stranger to a 3 am bus home.
I think if things were the way you were describing for everyone I'd have been jumped 15 times.
I've never been jumped in my life, and I don't know really know many folk that have.
The best advice for both of us is probably not to assume your experience is the experience everyone has. |
