Which street in Halfway? Some streets are worse than others, and some streets have been knocked down, and rebuilt to be gentrified. Some bits are working families and alright, other bits have individuals with addiction issues housed there, and the Eva Burrows treatment centre, which can lead to interesting encounters.
Regular buses into town, or trains if you walk down to Newton station (there's a path to it off Mill Road).

The Velvet Inn (done-up posh bit of the Sun Inn) seems alright, you've got Tesco up the road at the top of Drumsagard estate for shopping, three chippies, some good take-aways, post office, library, green space nearby for wandering (down the Clyde walkways or up Dechmont Hill), Gilbertfield Castle if you're into local history.
