The problem is likely coming from your ceiling - do you have, or have you had, birds nesting in the eaves/attic space? It's highly likely that you have at one point or another. Those moths eat the feathers and nest materials birds leave behind, which is why they're so prevalent in tenement flats.

You need to investigate whether they've managed to take hold somewhere - if you are a knitter, check your stockpile of yarn in particular, or any wool clothing in your wardrobe. Take everything out and wash it if you can, then clean the inside of any wardrobe/dark areas extremely thoroughly. If they've laid eggs anywhere, you're not necessarily going to see them (unless they have already entered larval stage, in which case you may find a little pile of moth maggots crawling about somewhere... fair warning.) so a thorough clean of the area, and of any fabrics will hopefully clear out any unhatched buggers (anything that can be washed at 60c safely, wash at 60c.)

Cedar blocks are meant to help but I don't know whether thats anecdotal or not - can't hurt to get some and stick them in your wardrobe after you clean it out, and I suppose you could also try some cedar incense ropes - [https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/202789647711](https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/202789647711) and see whether the intense smell of cedar makes them fuck off - but you would probably have to burn it fairly consistently. Luckily the stuff I've linked you isn't heavily perfumed, it just smells a bit like you've got a log burning fire on the go.

The only other solid alternative would be getting one of those gas bomb things and letting it off in your flat, but that's a pretty heavy duty measure and if they're coming from the eaves then you wouldn't even really sort out the source of the problem, just the ones that have migrated into your space.

Anyway... part of living in a tenement sadly, but I hope some of these thoughts help!
