Rents in normal units in Shawlands are already prohibitively expensive and continue to rise. We are seeing the non-hipster but stalwart businesses start to leave the area.
It will end up being another area where you can buy a handmade candlestick but not be able to get your daily messages for a reasonable price.
Genuinely though- with the huge commercial units attached to the buildings… it’s totally out of keeping. An Oliver bonas would strangle so many of the little gift shops. |
