Comment | It’s evident that many commenters on this sub have never been to Ibrox and live in some sort of fantasy world, that because there happens to be football stadium there, then everybody who lives there must support that team. Those comments come from idiots tbh. The government statistics blow that right out of the water. Ibrox is a mixed community. (Side note: before it was the Louden, the Ibrox Bar on Copland Rd was a “Celtic pub” on non match days.) On match day the area will become overrun with Rangers supporters. Part and parcel of living in an area with a major event arena. As for being Irish it won’t be an issue. Thousands of people come over from Ireland and Northern Ireland for every game, which includes members of The Dublin Loyal supporters group. If you happen to find yourself amongst a crowd of football supporters who hear your accent they will assume you have just travelled over for the game. Anybody who is stupid enough to take an issue with you being Irish is probably too stupid to distinguish between NI and ROI accents anyway. If the flat is right next to a pub then it is going to be very busy on match days. The area around the stadium is policed to a high standard on match days. Traffic is brutal around the start and end of the match. A lot of people who live in Ibrox are living in poverty. It’s not an affluent area. It has brilliant transport links with the subway, and a bus service with a combined frequency of about every 3 minutes into the city centre. If you like going to concerts then it’s walkable to the Hydro and SEC event campus. There is also some nice green space close by if you want to go for a walk and escape the traffic. |
