Please read my post a bit more carefully.

I never said .5 YoE nets you 60k. 60k is approximately the upper bound of associate tech employees. Associate tech employees make in the range of 40 (lower bound, someone with 0.5 years) to 60 (upper bound, someone with 4/5+ depending on education). The internal promotion scheme is 5/4/3 YoE from associate to VP with BSc/MSc/PhD. Anything above significantly 5 YoE you're probably looking at VP positions or above.

I know this because I have literally received employment contracts from banks in Glasgow, as well as had close friends employed by the banks from where I didn't, as well as the fact that the average software salaries are pretty easily available online lol. On top of this, this is all literally standard procedure as explained by the banks, and ratified to me by actual veteran employees during my time employed there. There is literally 0 speculation.

That said, and fwiw: I left Glasgow finance tech for greener pastures, because frankly they underpay their devs.
