Congratulations with your job! I am sure you have worked very hard to get there. 60k is a good salary for Glasgow, it will give you better quality of life in comparison to London or even Edinburgh. It can increase quite quickly if you change jobs after every couple of years.

In terms of the work/life balance, I think it will vary on your role.

There is relatively big tech community with lots of meetups/events so you will be able to meet plenty of people in the industry. There also interesting events organised by unis, as well as plenty of museums and galleries.

One thing is definitely don't sign any long term contracts for accommodation, as there is no minimum fixed period. It's easier to get scammed into signing a lease for a property you may not enjoy living in. Accommodation is competitive in glad and can still be quite expensive for a single person in a nicer area. Check if JPMorgan can provide some relocation cover.

Unsure about the Indian community here, however, there is a Hindu Mandir and I think people did celebrate holi earlier this year. There are lots of South East Asian shops which stock excellent ingredients.
