I feel like I would start getting somewhat smugly **comfortable at around £40k** - especially if I married someone on a similar salary. Not *until* £60,000 would I start doing the weekly shop at M&S, and around £70,000 I think I would be calling my kids Onyx and enrolling them in art therapy and all that shit. Or is that upper middle class? I see myself as like, an artsy rich person and not a west end wanker if ygm?? Like a Dennistoun (idk how to spell it) rich person.

Seriously though…Some of it is social perception. I’m a uni wanker, bisexual, and I like oat milk…so initially, laypersons assume I’m middle class. But, I’m 20F, making part time spendies as a bar wench, and my parents raised me on like £20k a year. We had and have financial difficulties as a family.

I wish people understood you can be a pretentious cunt and still povvo. The Scottish idea of “dyed hair, uni, and vegan, you’re middle class and a wank” should be altered to “dyed hair, uni, and a vegan, you are a wank!”. Since the SNP made uni free since forever ago!! Planking outside pret is for everyone now. Thanks comrade nicola
