He’s giving very Katy Price, very Joey Essex, etc - born to working class parents, but upwardly mobile because of his trade / occupation as a public figure. He’d get followed around by the staff at Waitrose, and he wouldn’t fit in at some self-serving charity fundraiser - unless they knew who he *was*, because their perception of him as lesser or other can be surpassed by his permission slip, i.e “I am a famous sportsperson”, or similar to the way working class Jimmy Saville famous’d his way into chilling with literal Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher - Wayne Rooney can use his social capital to be mobile in that setting. |
