If some of the places the other commenters suggested are still too expensive, have a look towards Clydebank etc. maybe. Public transport goes in a straight line \~parallel to the river towards town, and you could hop off around West End.


Your daughter lives in a pricey part of town, and the £1.5-1.7k suggestions others have made are likely to be the best you can get round West End/City Centre.
