I agree there is a risk. I don’t think that’s disputed - but I’m unsure it’s more risky than other lower paid jobs.

But I think what’s been missed in unionising - is that the industries that are well established are those with the power. Teachers are another example. Well organised and strong influencing union.

Saying others can do the same when evidently that doesn’t and given the long-standing issues in pay discrepancies - this is unlikely to change.

Collective action is very likely the best resolve. The problem being - this isn’t collective. I would argue and guess that if a pay increase is given. Then that money will come from some other cut or service not being invested in. There is only x amount of apples in the basket. It just gives the feeling of first come first served.
