Comment | This is what I think and I might be wrong ...In India (and in many other countries), shops are generally owned and only owned by the people who runs them, so they have personal interest to keep it open and feel comfortable being flexible about the timings. Some of them even stay nearby or on top of the shop. But in here, the people are working in the shops are employees and extra time in the shop is extra time and it messes up all the payment and the calculations an many more. That's why when you see any shop closes at 5PM, its not good to enter the shop even just before 5pm because employees has to stay late to serve you if its not done by 5pm. Every extra second is kind of stealing their time. The closing time is also decided by the shop corporate etc.
