Whichever way to try to slice it, Scotland was pulled from under her people and control of these lands shifted to London, with those same people getting absolutely no say in the matter. If a choice to join something is made for you, you’re being forced into it, it wasn’t as if they could opt out and have their patch of land not be included. When your will isn’t considered, whatever happens is against your will, because you’re being told “fuck you, this is happening whether you like it or not.” |
