60 days isn’t against the rules. My GP writes me a prescription for 84 days supply and I have no issues in getting that filled from my local pharmacy.

OP, I use Mackie’s Pharmacy and would highly recommend them. They have a few branches throughout Glasgow and I’ve never had to wait more that a day or two for them to order in my my meds. The trick is to get your new prescription a few days before you run out so you don’t have any lost days!

Regarding getting an assessment through the NHS I would get the ball rolling on this if you haven’t done so already:

1. Make an appointment with your GP and tell them you’ve been diagnosed privately but would like to have an assessment done through the NHS. Mention the issues you’ve been having with the private clinic and that it’s severely impacting your mental health.

2. Hopefully your GP is willing to refer you to your local mental health team straight away. If not you might have to ask for a second opinion or even change GP. Please don’t get disheartened by this if it happens as some GP’s are stuck in the past and don’t realise that they’re not qualified to make an assessment on whether or not someone has ADHD.

3. If you do get referred without any issues then unfortunately there will be a wait. How long I think really depends on what part of Glasgow you’re in and how well resourced the local mental health team there are. However, the NHS in Glasgow have recently been running workshops with adults with ADHD to see how they can further develop and improve services. I imagine this will also include more funding to help deal with the backlog of referrals and to help speed up and improve the diagnostic process.
