| Comment | It’s a nightmare but doable with luck. Me and partner moved from dennistoun a couple months ago due to disability meaning top floor tennant we were renting for years was no longer suitable. My advice, be open minded about area! We are now in Sandyhills beside shettleston and loving it, have a garden etc and cheaper than what we’re paying in Dennistoun. Only a few train stops from town. We got lucky on OpenRent, much easier than going though agent etc. gumtree good too.
It is a shitshow at moment though we lost out on places here and Riddrie, Tollcross… as people were offering months and months rent upfront. Try and get in for viewing as soon as place goes online. We were finding viewings booked up within days of places going online.
As I say though we were lucky and love our wee place in Sandyhills. Def look further afield than hot spots like dennistoun and south side.
We also made a few applications for housing associations. Though wait can be long. Plus it daft that you need to fill different application for each housing association, with there was just one application Glasgow wide. In the end we couldn’t wait on social housing (as bf was housebound) so went private rent. |
