I’ve only lived here a short while so I can’t compare to what was.

Investment doesn’t just mean development. I mean develop the city from the run down place it is into a clean and functioning modern city of the 2020s. Maybe these developments are a sign of what’s to come, I really hope so. Because at the same time there is abandoned buildings, rusty train stations, fly tipped furniture (in a city, like come on), areas who have not seen landscaping for years, broken playgrounds etc.

As someone who moved here from elsewhere I was quite shocked at how some seemingly simple ordinary things were not being kept up with here. Litter, potholes, general upkeep etc. The fact that we have trees growing out from drains is very telling.

Like I said. It sometimes feels like the city doesn’t know what it needs to get where it wants.
