Unfortunately “fairly cheap” aren’t words that can be used to describe the rental market in Glasgow right now .

Be sure when looking at less expensive areas outwith the city centre and walking distance to the centre to think about the cost of travel into the centre and work out of the saving on rent is worth the extra time and money to travel as public transport is expensive and , at best , unreliable.

Also worth noting that competition for decent places is fierce and you might need to offer a few months rent up front to even be considered . Including deposit and 3 months rent upfront it cost me the best part of 5k to move into the flat I have now . I didn’t want to pay that upfront but it felt like the only way I was ever going to get to place
