| Comment | Unfortunately in Glasgow City Centre you would get your knickers knocked if they weren't wrapped round your legs. The place is filled with junkies and smackheads who will steal anything given the opportunity.
Even if the bike doesn't get stolen due to the use of a good lock you can return to it and find parts removed, wheels stolen, lights stolen, phone holder stolen, all sorts really.
I would suggest working with your employer to find a solution about storing it on site.
I only lock my bike in the city centre after I have removed all removable items and it is within my eyesight whilst locked.
I once jumped into Poundland on Argyle Street for like 2-3 minutes. My bike was securely locked outside with a Gold Secure D Lock but still a junkie managed to get the small frame mounted storage bag off. It had a couple of USB cables in it and was of no significant value but inconvenient for me if it gets taken.
I came out the store and caught him. Lucky for him I didn't have another D lock as it would have been right over his skull. I took the bag off him and belted him. He then had the cheek to accuse me of assault and threatened to get the police before running off. |
