Went to art school between 2006-2013, there was always a pretty huge Chinese community amongst students even then. The narrative was that the GSA relied on international fees to fund itself, to the extent that the entry requirements for those students were very low. A lot of Chinese students had little to no English, which was a challenge for tutors and fellow students alike- they couldn’t integrate well with the student body, there was little collaboration between Chinese and non Chinese students, and they often performed quite poorly unfortunately.

Im guessing Brexit has increased numbers of non EU international students. Perhaps more importantly though, with rising costs of being a student here, and much less importance being placed on arts education in secondary schools under a Tory government, less and less Scottish residents are choosing to study art/design at uni level.
