Plus, local students could study for "free" in any other EU university. So it was actually a win-win situation for the ScotGov. The local student studying in Belgium (for example) is payed using EU funds, while the German student studying in Glasgow is also payed by EU funds.
Now this option doesn't exist for local students. Thus, while Chinese students pay full fees, the ScotGov also pays the smaller fees of local students, so the offset is not as good as before. |
