| Comment | You clearly have no idea what you’re talking about. In Higher Education, there are three main fee statuses: Home, RoUK, and Overseas. There is a strict number of fully funded (Home) places allocated by the Scottish Funding Council (SFC) each year and there a filled every year. In addition, there are places allocated for students from England, Wales and Northern Ireland (RoUK) who pay £9k per year. And then there is Overseas, which unfortunately now also includes EU (although there a weird transitionary fee amount set for that currently - it used to be fully funded), and these students pay £20k per year.
Not only are all the Home places filled, but each Scottish student receives more spend per head than is recovered via SFC funding for their place. This only sustainable due to the fees generated by overseas students. Their fees *literally* subsidise the higher education at GSA and every other decent university in this country.
As for ‘reputation going down the toilet’; well this year it has dropped down to 11th from being 8th in the **world** the past three years but I wouldn’t say the reputation has been flushed yet. |
