| Comment | Dunno what restaurant you are talking about, but yeh with an American ex / spending a lot of time there it is very noticeable how what lot of what Scottish people consider completely harmless entertainment would be considered racist as hell in the USA.
A lot of it is probably proximity, Mexico isn't really a place I think a lot of British people have been to or know a lot about plus we don't have a large Mexican population as far as I know so people feel a lot more comfortable laughing at those "funny" accents, songs, hats etc then whereas the same people would consider the same jokes directed towards Chinese / Africans quite distasteful.
Also annoying how little decent Mexican food there is and how much of a ripoff Lupe Pintos is. |
