Yeh I was just about to add that to my list of suggestions, the train to Balloch is a great day out for kids when the weather is good, there is a "beach" (not the sandiest, but can get your feet wet), a carousel, playpark, inflatable stuff

Also forgot to mention Pollock Park, get to see some highland cows, playpark, burrell collection etc
