i lived there for 25 years. bits are safe, bits are pretty rough. depends where you'll be living. i'm going to echo the sentiment that if you live there, you'll need a car. the place isn't designed to be traversed any other way. public transport connections are poor, cycling infrastructure is akin to a secret the council takes to their graves and walking often means having to go under dodgy underpasses or try crossing a 4 lane road with a speed limit of 50mph.

greenhills isn't half as bad as everyone says but if your near the greenhills shops, it can be a bit dicey, same with whitehills and the murry. if your anywhere near the skatepark, prepare for drunk teenagers throwing up in your garden.
