Stayed in Ek for 25 years and grew up in West Mains. Definitely a lot mote affordable than Glasgow but it's still creeping up in price (my cousin just bought a house in West mains and had to pay a fair bit over) I couldnt wait to leave but was 25 by the time I left! It's just not kept up compared to Glasgow but the restaurants are so so much better since I left. Shops are okay but a lot of the main ones in the centre are shutting so you would need a car for groceries. The transport in Stewartfield/west mains/east mains is terrible and just too far to walk. Some really nice walks and places to go like the heritage Loch, Calder Glen Park for kids. Avoid Duncanrig!
