I'm about to move into the east Dunbartonshire council area. So I called them to check re bulky/electrical uplift and sort my council tax as I'd sent them an email 4 days prior and wanted to follow up. For a start when I called I was in a queue, all of three people long. The bulky uplift charge covered not one item but several, basically you told them what you want them to take and they run it through a calculator and then tell you if it's under the limit of one charge or whether it'll be more. If it'll be more it first gets reviewed by another team to ensure the charge is accurate. I'm going to get broken electrics uplifted and all our packing boxes and some bulky plastic picked up and it'll be £24.22 for the lot! They then transferred me to the council tax line. First agent dropped the line - but the call didn't end I was just dropped back into the queue and immediately answered afterwards, the original agent called me back while I was speaking to the new agent. They had already set up my council tax for me and had a hold on a letter to arrive for me on our move in date.
I'm going to pay about £40 more a month on my tax and I think I'm getting a bargain.
