Try to find folks who seem like they're doing this to get out of the house for a few hours. You know, away from the wife and kids to chill and have a laugh. The meta deck try hard mob are all over the format like a rash and seem to not understand the concept of having a bit of casual fun.
When you sit down for a game have a good chat with the players about the power level of your deck and how you'd like the game to go, that avoids the chance of playing against some wombo combo netdeck that you may as well go get a pint or coffee rather than sit at the table and watch go off.
Avoid geek retreat Glasgow at all costs, I hear that's where the worst of the community congregate.
There are fun people out there to play EDH with but it takes time to find them. |
