If you're going to be staying in Glasgow Uni's own student halls then you'll get free access to a UofG Sport membership and therefore access to the uni gym and to sports union affiliated clubs, including the Muay Thai club. Means you'd be able to go for a few weeks and see if it works for you, free of cost. You'd still have to pay the club's own membership but this is usually fairly inexpensive.

Equally, at the beginning of semester 1 clubs are all keen to recruit new Freshers and will let you come to taster sessions and even a few weeks of normal sessions before expecting you to pay membership. At that point you'd have to make sure you've got the afforementied UofG Sport membership, which if you're not at uni halls you'd have to buy (~£150 for the year), and then also get the club membership.

If you try it out and it's not a good fit then probs best to go out with the uni. Although I've heard very good things about the Muay Thai club and can personally vouch for how good the unis sports clubs are for making pals and putting on regular socials!

So TLDR, you can definitely try out the uni club for a couple weeks for free and then decide if paying for the memberships etc is worth it for you, and if not, go one in the community instead.

Hope that helps
