It took me 3 months to find a flat, and wasn't even very area-specific (just somewhere close to the subway, except Cessnock/Ibrox/Govan).
What finally worked for us is setting up alerts on Rightmove and calling the agency as soon as possible. Be at the first viewing. If possible, offer 6 months' rent up front.
