Comment | >Join a 5 a side league then, or a running/hiking group. Go volunteer. Chap your neighbours door an invite them to a bbq. Ask a coworker for a pint after work. I'll tackle all of these individually. 1) Force yourself to be interested in football (providing it isn't cancelled due to covid) - transport to the grounds costs money unless in walking distance. 2) Unlucky if you dont have time at the weekends or have heart conditions, or can't afford the gear (lots of groups on meetup.com require you to have appropriate gear). 3) Volunteer your labour just to meet the basic social need of interaction. 4) Talk to your neighbours to invite them for a bbq. This is assuming a lot of privilege here imo, how many young people have housing that has gardens? How many can afford a bbq? 5) Ask my middle aged coworkers for a pint when I don't drink alcohol? What If I'm religious and abstaining? Again, cost of living crisis, 2 pints can be a week+ of grain. >Your right it's harder these days to meet folk but you don't have to pay money for every opportunity. Christ man, you need a bit of positive mentality otherwise you'll get nowhere That's because society is in a shite state. I generally have a positive mentality don't worry. I just don't like blind boomer optimism, it has to be grounded in some level of objectivity. |
