If worried about travel time to glasgow you could always go to paisley. It’s a very short bus / you could walk it. There’s a museum and observatory there and some nice old buildings. Really nice traditional pub called the [Bull Inn](https://whatpub.com/pubs/REN/4/bull-inn-paisley) if timings suit.
