Well in an ideal world we'd have trains/ships doing most of those deliveries and the last miles would be by van... But we don't live there and that kind of change would be huge.

The problem is that some idiots decided to build I highway going through a city instead of around it. Glasgow is getting better in terms of walkable/livible city infrastructure, but it's still a long way away from countries like The Netherlands for example
