Phoning the police is likely to achieve nothing. The involved parties are unlikely to want to press charges against each other, so if you phone the polis they might do the culprits with a section 38 (good old breach of the peace.)
As no other party wants to press charges you’d be the one who suffered fear and alarm, which will result in you receiving a witness citation for court when they plead not guilty. As you were spooked by a loud car, I can only imagine standing up in court to go against your neighbours is not going to be an enjoyable experience for you.
If you’re not prepared to press charges and follow it through to court, you waste everybody’s time and taxpayer money. The polis aren’t like your mammy where you can phone them up and get them to come out just to make you feel better, they are an organisation with a function and process.
As a bystander, the best advice is to stay out of other peoples domestic disputes unless there is risk to person or property. |
