A guy i know lives in quite a rough area, and last year something similar happened across the road from him. A fight broke out and somebody was slashed. He said the same thing, as did his next door neighbour. Don't bother getting involved. It sucks, but you may be bringing unwanted attention on yourself if anybody finds out you've been talking to the police
