This is absolutely fine. For the last 20 or so years every gas stove has to have a thermocoupler that senses when there is heat. If there isn’t any heat then the gas gets turned off automatically. That’s why all gas stoves need electricity nowadays.

You’ll notice each gas ring has 2 wee cylinders beside it. One is the spark plug that lights it and the other is the thermocoupler that registers whether its lit or not.

It’s also the reason why when you ignite it you need to wait about five seconds for it stay alit, otherwise the thermocoupler isn’t sufficiently hot for it to register that a valid flame is in place.

As for ventilation, an internal extractor is valid
