Comment | I actually think Edinburgh Trams might have scuppered this for us, but I did see a suggestion by someone a few months back of trolley buses. They only need the overhead infrastructure which means there is a lower cost/time for installation of that, plus (and I'm no trolley bus expert) there is a possibility of having them have an onboard battery which allows them to go "off-cable" and still service smaller streets.
Full electric system, without the issues around range, that could be implemented city wide without digging up roads (although a fair few need digging up, but that's another thread!) seems like a great idea. |
